25 Glaciers in 2010
Twenty-five active glaciers remained in 2010, against about a hundred and fifty in 1850. The park keeps its name. The Bureau has entered the matter under nomenclature, pending review. The reserve holds more than 130 named lakes over more than a million acres, a count the Bureau expects to remain stable. The mountain goat is the official emblem of the park and appears on the badge in that capacity, not as an illustration. It stands on the Continental Divide, which crosses the park and decides, to the drop, which ocean the water reaches.
